Our members
work to educate decision-makers and the public about
the importance of pr eserving
habitat diversity within the bay ecosystem. At monthly
meetings we exchange information about development threats
to wetlands in the south and central San Francisco Bay.
We respond to public notices by the Army Corps of Engineers
( Corps
), the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality
Control Board ( Board
) and the Bay Conservation and Development Commission
( BCDC
) regarding proposals to fill wetlands.
We sponsor the " Habitat
Means Home " poster contest for K-6 students in
the Fremont and Newark Unified School Districts to encourage
students to learn what "habitats" are and why they are
important to the plants and animals that occupy them.
